Releases 2014

2014 has turned out to be a great year for hollywood:). This summer especially has been really great with blockbusters releasing almost every week:). With Superheroes like Spiderman, Xmen and Captain America hitting the big screen and with blockbusters like Godzilla, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Transformers 4, this summer has been nothing less than entertaining:). Also with movies like Interstellar and Hobbit 3 coming soon, this year promises to be a great year for Hollywood:). This is my first post on 2014 movies i liked,i will keep on adding new posts as and when i watch some good 2014 movies:). Lets begin with some 2014 movies i have seen and liked so far:).

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best movie i have seen so far this year:). It's the second movie in the Captain America franchise. Its more of a political thriller than a superhero movie:). In this movie, Captain America struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. To be really honest, i wasn't a huge fan of Captain America, he is my least favorite superhero, so i really didn't have much expectations from this movie. But this movie turned out to be a superb blockbuster and entertainer:):):). This movie proved to me that no matter how dull the superhero may be, at the end of the day its the script that counts:). With a fantastic script and good direction, this movie makes sure you are involved and in edge of your seat throughout the movie:). Also performance by Chis Evans as Captain America is really good:). Most entertaining movie this year:):):). Definitely a superb watch:).

Genre:- Action, Adventure, Thriller.
Director:- Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Stars:- Chis Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan.
Bore Meter:- Really entertaining and engaging blockbuster:). No chance of getting bored:).
My Rating:-

X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Days of Future Past is a very good movie:). Here, The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. Since it is a time travel movie, the movie was slightly predictable for me, one already knows how the movie will end.But this movie turned out to be really good thanks to some good direction and some really good performances by the cast especially James Mcavoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence:). Also what helps the movie is its wonderful script.Filled with humour and some really deep writing, this ends up being a very good watch:). Definitely a worth watching movie:).

Genre:- Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Thriller.
Director:- Bryan Singer.
Stars:- Hugh Jackman,James Mcavoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence,
Bore Meter:- Entertaining throughout.Won't get bored:).
My Rating:-

Edge of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow is a good movie with a really good plot line:). Here, an officer (Tom Cruise) finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with an alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy. This movie mainly works because of its unique story:). The concept of Live, Die,Repeat is really good and really well shot as well:). Even though the main character experiences the same events again and again, the director makes sure that the viewers don't get bored, by using different camera angles, adding humour to the script and also some great editing. Even though you witness the same events, you start feeling for the character and there is a lot of humour in the movie to keep you engaged in the first half:). Also Tom Cruise does a good job and brings a lot of energy to the movie:). The second half slightly slows down by including a romantic angle and also slightly dull climatic ending. But overall, its a good and fun movie to watch:).

Genre:- Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller.
Director:- Doug Liman.
Stars:- Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt.
Bore Meter:- Entertaining and engaging throughout.Won't get bored:).
My Rating:-

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to the 2011 blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Here, In the wake of a disaster that changed the world, the growing and genetically evolving apes find themselves at a critical point with the human race. If you are an action freak like me, you may not enjoy this movie that much.First of all there is hardly any 3d effect for a so called 3d movie. Also the entire movie takes place in a small area for a high budget blockbuster like this. But what saves the movie is the drama. The direction is really good. The performances especially by Andy Serkis is really good. Also it is a very soulful movie. There are lots of moments/scenes in the movie when the humans and Apes interact which touch your heart:). For its good direction, intense drama and performances, this is a good watch:).

Genre:- Action, Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller.
Director:- Matt Reeves
Stars:- Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell.
Bore Meter:- Entertaining throughout.Lots of intense drama.Won't get bored:).
My Rating:-

Transformers: Age of Extinction
Transformers: Age of Extinction is the 4th installment of the Transformers series. It's a typical Michael Bay blockbuster:). Here, a mechanic and his family join the Autobots as they are targeted by a bounty hunter from another world. What mainly works for this movie is its action sequences:).If you are a action freak like me, then it won't get better than this:). 3 hrs of  non-stop action and assault of sound and fury. One action sequence followed by the next:). It's as if the movie was made on an unlimited budget:). Though not much in terms of script and story, the main characters offer some humour in between the huge action sequences:). Overall this is a good movie and a must watch movie for all action freaks:):):). To be enjoyed mainly in IMAX:).

Genre:- Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi.
Director:- Michael Bay
Stars:- Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor.
Bore Meter:- Entertaining throughout. Full of jaw dropping action sequences:). No chance of getting bored:).
My Rating:-

  3. Good list except for Transformers. It simply sucked!. :P Edge of Tomorrow hands down the best movie in the list. Breath of fresh air with a different story line. Captain America exceeded expectations. Scarlett Johansson <3 <3 :D Yet to watch Xmen and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Hope Xmen stands up to the hype. As for DOTPOTA, couldn't care less. :)
