Releases 2012 (3)

This blog post is a continuation of my earlier blog posts.

Hope you have seen all the 10 earlier 2012 movies i suggested:). Here are some more 2012 movies i enjoyed:).

The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises is the best movie of 2012 i have seen so far:). This is the third and final movie of Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy. This movie takes place eight years after, when new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham's finest and makes the Dark Knight resurface to protect a city that has branded him an enemy. This movie mainly works because of excellent direction by Christopher Nolan:). Nolan once again manages to suck you into the world of Gotham and Batman:).Such was the movie's effect that i had to go home and watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight again:) as i didn't feel like watching anything else:). The Dark Knight,i thought was a superior movie mainly due to its villain Joker:).Bane isn't as scary as Joker(who was completely unpredictable). But Batman is shown superbly in this movie, his gadgets and his newest toy, an armored flying vehicle called The Bat:),his escaping scene from the underground well like structure, his interactions with Catwoman(played well by Anne Hathaway).Everything is done brilliantly:).Overall TDKR is a superb movie with a photo finish to one of the best trilogies ever made:).

Genre:- Action, Drama.
Director:- Christopher Nolan.
Stars:- Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway.
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored.Has very good pace:).
My Rating:-

The Avengers
The Avengers is a very entertaining blockbuster:). Here, Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army. The Avengers first half starts off at a decent pace, where all the superheros come together, and struggle to work as a team against Loki. But its the second half which just takes off and takes the movie to a new level:).The final act,a thrilling alien-bashing fight on the streets of Manhattan, is absolutely brilliant:) and a must watch for all movie fans:). What i liked about the direction of Joss Whedon is that he gives equal importance to all 6 superheroes(members) of the Avengers:). It could have easily been a one superhero movie(Hulk or Iron Man) ,with others just supporting here and there:).But Joss balances the superheroes superbly:).Overall The Avengers is an entertaining blockbuster with some really good special effects especially in the second half:).

Genre:- Action, Sci-Fi.
Director:- Joss Whedon.
Stars:- Robert Downey Jr.,Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson.
Bore Meter:- No chance of getting bored.Has great pace:).
My Rating:-

The Dictator
The Dictator is an enjoyable slapstick comedy:). This is a funny story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. This is a movie i enjoyed and laughed throughout:).Every scene in this movie is funny and you will love it if you enjoy slapstick comedy:D.Sacha Baron Cohen's accent and his dialogue delivery are itself enough to keep you laughing throughout:).The jokes in this movie are consistently provocative, but are enjoyable if taken lightly:).Overall The Dictator is a must watch if you like slapstick comedies:).

Genre:- Comedy.
Director:- Larry Charles.
Stars:- Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris.
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored. Is Enjoyable Throughout:).
My Rating:-

Battleship is a good one time watch entertainer:). Here, a fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals. This movie may not have a great script, but thanks to its huge budget, has some really good visual effects:).Overall, Battleship is just a good entertainer to watch when you have some free time to pass:).

Genre:- Action, Sci-Fi.
Director:- Peter Berg.
Stars:- Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker,Liam Neeson.
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored:).Has good pace:).
My Rating:-

The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a good one time watch movie:). This movie is set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match. The first half is superbly directed. It keeps you involved and raises your expectation, the hype around the hunger games is so much that you cant wait for it to start in the second half:).But,alas, the second half really disappoints:(.The actual competition fails to fulfil the hype of the first half:(.The violence in The Hunger Games is considerably downplayed and fails to give you a strong enough sense of the brutal nature of the competition:(. Only thing consistent in this movie is the perfomance of Jennifer Lawrence who plays her character effortlessly and wonderfully:).Overall The Hunger Games is a good one time watch movie:) which has a great first half but disappoints in the second half.

Genre:- Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi.
Director:- Gary Ross.
Stars:- Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson.
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored:).Has good pace:).
My Rating:-

  6. First of all, extremely sorry for commenting so late...
Secondly, another great post. Enjoyed watching TDKR, not as good as TDK, but it keeps you engrossed all the same. The Avengers is my fav movie out of the above. :) Enjoyed watching Hulk bang the sh!t (pardon my french) out of Loki.. ;)
The Dictator was a good movie but wasn't my cup of tea, was slow and boring unlike SBC's other works (Bruno, Ali G & Borat).
Battleship was another well-made sci-fi/action movie. Didn't even know when the movie ended.. enjoyed watching this with you mate. ;)
Last but not the least, THG was good but didn't exceed expectations. Lost interest halfway through. OK for one-time watch, maybe?

All-in-all, great movie list, but i might suggest adding just the movies that you liked (The Hunger Games wouldn't have been on the list at all, if it were so). But you aren't to be blamed, it's Gary Ross' fault... :P

Good movie list bro, keep 'em coming. \m/

  7. @Ravi: Thanks for your comments:).
