Celebrity Top 5

Leonardo DiCaprio

One of the good actors of the movie industry,Leonardo DiCaprio has established himself and is currently one of the biggest stars. He is known for the variety of movies he does and for his excellent choice of films. He is one of the good actors not to win an oscar yet,but already has 3 nominations to his credit. So here's bringing to you,the top 5 movies of Leonardo DiCaprio according to me:).

Titanic (1997)
Titanic is definitely one of the biggest blockbusters and one of the best romantic movies ever made:).I don't even need to write a review for this movie because i am sure everybody has already seen it:). It is a love story between a boy and a girl from differing social backgrounds who meet during the ill-fated maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic. This is one of the first english movies i had seen and enjoyed (my rating may be partial because of this reason) and even after almost 15 years i still can watch it anytime:).No wonder the 3D version received such a good response from all:).

Genre:- Adventure, Romance.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won 11 Oscars (Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Effects-Sound Effects Editing, Best Effects-Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Music-Original Dramatic Score,Best Music-Original Song, Best Picture, Best Sound).
3 Other Nominations (Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Makeup).
Bore Meter:- No chance of getting bored:). Has very good pace:).
My Rating:-

Inception (2010)
I have already mentioned this movie in one of my previous posts, but cant mention a list of Dicaprio's movies without including inception:). Here,in a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a highly skilled thief is given a final chance at redemption which involves executing his toughest job to date: Inception. This part sci-fi,part heist thriller is the complete opposite of our typical "leave your brains at home" indian movies:D.This movie demands you to not only bring your brains with you,but also makes you use it throughout the length of the film:).One needs to watch it at least twice to completely understand the movie. For its master writing, direction, story telling and great performance by Di Caprio, this is definitely a must watch:).

Genre:- Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won 4 Oscars (Best Achievement in Cinematography,Best Achievement in Sound Editing,Best Achievement in Sound Mixing,Best Achievement in Visual Effects).
4 Other Nominations (Best Achievement in Art Direction,Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures-Original Score,Best Motion Picture of the Year,Best Writing-Original Screenplay).
Bore Meter:- No chance of getting bored.Has Superb Pace:).
My Rating:-

Shutter Island (2010)
Shutter Island is a well made engaging thriller:). Here,in a drama set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding nearby.Shutter Island works mainly because of good direction by Martin Scorsese who makes sure that audience is engaged throughout the length of the film:). Also what helps this movie is a strong performance by DiCaprio, who makes his character believable.Overall Shutter island is an engaging thriller and definitely a must watch:).

Genre:- Mystery, Thriller.
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored.Has very good pace:).
My Rating:-

The Departed (2006)
The Departed is a superbly directed drama thriller:). Here, two men from opposite sides of the law are undercover within the Massachusetts State Police and the Irish mafia, but violence and bloodshed boil when discoveries are made, and the moles are dispatched to find out their enemy's identities. The Departed mainly works because of superb direction by Martin Scorsese. Also what works for it,is very good performances from its leads.Matt Damon,Leonardo DiCaprio and jack Nicholson all give convincing performances:). There is tension in the air throughout the movie as the lead men try their best to stay undercover, and also finding the enemy's identities.Overall, this is well made drama thriller which is definitely worth your watch:).

Genre:- Drama, Thriller.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won 4 Oscars (Best Achievement in Directing, Best Achievement in Film Editing, Best Motion Picture of the Year,Best Writing-Adapted Screenplay).
1 Other Nomination (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role).
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored.Has good pace:).
My Rating:-

Revolutionary Road (2008)
Revolutionary Road is a very well made romantic drama:). It is also the movie where the titanic couple meet again onscreen after 11 years.Though this movie may not have as much as titanic in terms of collections, but it definitely was a superb movie:). Here, a young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children. This movie mainly works due to its good direction as well as good performances by both its leads. Also what engages you to this movie,is its reality. The movie is portrayed in a very real manner, which leaves you shocked at the end of the movie. This is definitely a great watch:).

Genre:- Drama, Romance.
Oscar Buzz:-
Nominated for 3 Oscars (Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Costume Design,Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role).
Bore Meter:- Won't get bored if you like the plot:).
My Rating:-

  2. All of these movies are great, except Revolutionary Road. That movie bored me to death. :P Definitely going to watch Titanic in 3D.

PS: I'm amazed that Blood Diamond or Catch Me If You Can weren't included in this list. Both were excellent movies.

    \m/ Keep 'em coming. \m/
